BEWARE of Cancer-Causing Chemicals in our daily life

I believe that most of the girls especially OLs put on thick makeup whenever they go out. This is a common scene as every girls like to stay pretty all the times. Besides, body lotion, sunblock lotion, moisturizers, baby shampoo, baby powder and many more are most probably inevitable in our life.

But, as a consumer, do we check for the ingredients of the product to see whether it is harmful to us??It is because cosmetics and skin care nowadays contain hazardous chemicals. So, we need to be concerned about it. The most important thing we have to do is to read the ingredient labels and get to know about the chemicals we do not want for our smooth skin.

According to my research, a certain cancer-causing chemical, 1,4 dioxane is found recently and it is used by many cosmetic companies in their products.
1,4-dioxane is a petroleum-derived contaminant considered a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency which is suspected to cause cancer. There are other different names for this cancer-causing chemical such as dioxane, diethylene dioxide, 1,4-diethylene dioxide, diethylene ether, glycol ethylene ether, dioxane-1,4, tetrahydro-p-dioxin, tetrahydro-1,4-dioxin. From the study of EWG(environment working group), we get to know that:

-22% of cosmetics and skin care products, including baby soaps, are contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.
-80 percent of all cosmetic products may be contaminated with one or more carcinogenic
impurities.

On the other hand, they also found that almost all the baby soaps and hair relaxers contaminate this chemical. Some of the well-known names on the market contain 1,4-dioxane.These are the contamination levels according to the study:
- 97% - hair relaxers
- 82% - hair dyes and bleaching

- 66% - hair removers

- 57% - baby soap
- 45% - sunless tanning products

- 43% - body firming lotion

- 36% - hormonal creams

- 36% - facial moisturizers

- 35% - anti-aging products

- 34% - body lotion

- 33% - around-eye creams

Most of the parents assume that baby bath products are pure and gentle for their babies as this is what the advertisement said so. But they are definitely wrong!! Parents should be given more accurate and complete informations based on sound science rather than on incomplete and alarmists reports. Baby bath products contain formaldehyde which can lead to allergic reactions in sensitive people. Formaldehyde also irritates the nasal and respiratory passages.

Most of the baby bath products contain harmful concentration of 1,4-dioxane. Hence, we have to cautious in choosing a right and healthy product either for ourselves or babies. It will be a better choice to consume or use organic products which are uncontaminated with dangerous chemicals. It is more to natural. That's all for this time...tata
